Spring Fever
What am I going to do? I can barely face the thought of evenings with no more BBC Springwatch…..no more Bitterns, no more Cuckoo Zilla, no more nightingales and saddest of all, no more Chris Packham!
It has been a fabulous three weeks of nature for someone like me who was a bit of a Nature Nerd at school and found great satisfaction in making plaster cast moulds of sea birds footprints down on our local beach in North Wales.
BBC Springwatch has also shown the world just how beautiful Suffolk is and I have felt immensely proud to live in a county that is so full of stunning scenery – gorgeous crimson poppy fields, the beautiful Suffolk coast line and gorgeous heathland, wetlands and forest.
Every evening that I have sat, transfixed, I have felt an overwhelming feel good that we are lucky enough to live somewhere so unaffected and so, even though I feel sad to be losing the Springwatch crew, I am looking forward with huge excitement to plenty of sunny days on our lovely beaches and strolls through the fields and forests that we are so lucky to live so close to. In fact I am looking forward with such optimism that I have even dug out the flip flops!
And, if the memories of Springwatch are too much to bear, I can always try sneaking through RSPB Minsmere in the cover of darkness later in the year and steal a place in the corner of the Autumnwatch studio!!
