Latest News from Suffolk Market Events
Frosty mornings, misty skies and muddy fields mean only thing - the shooting season is back and we have FRESH GAME at the Farmers' Markets again - yippee! Long Melford and Lavenham Game Meats will be at Lavenham and Sudbury Farmers' Markets from October and at Nayland Farmers' Market from November with fresh, oven ready game including pheasant, partridge, rabbit and duck and their very popular game pie mix. All the game has been shot within 30 miles of the Farmers' Markets and it sells like hot cakes so make sure you arrive early!
Nayland Farmers' Market has had real problems recently with Essex County Council who have insisted that we remove a number of roadsigns from around the Great Horkesley/Colchester area. The impact of removing roadsigns on a rural market such as Nayland would be huge and so I was delighted when the fantastic Rose & Crown and The Yew Tree pubs in Great Horkesley and the Great Horkesley Garage all kindly agreed to let us display a Nayland Farmers' Market sign on their land in front of their businesses.
Support like this, from other local businesses makes a huge difference to the survival of rural markets and I am extremely grateful to all three businesses for their support.
Over the last few months we have welcomed lots of new faces to our Farmers' Markets in Nayland, Sudbury and Lavenham. It is always great to introduce new producers in and to offer customers more choice - changes in the markets keep them fresh and new, top quality producers are one of the secrets to our success.
We are always on the look out for new traders so, if you are nurturing a secret in the greenhouse and you'd love the opportunity to sell, then please do get in touch.
In the meantime come along to our monthly markets and meet our new faces -
Deersbrook Farm - selling delicious, locally bred beef and pork
